Charlie Snyder appointed Director of Public Relations, Marketing and Communications

The College of Fine Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of Charlie Snyder as Director of Public Relations, Marketing and Communications.  In this role Charlie will initiate, coordinate, and manage activities designed to increase visibility and brand recognition for the arts at UA in accordance with priorities established by the Dean and college leadership.  He will work in collaboration with marketing and communications professionals in our academic and arts presenting/engagement units, and at the university level.  He also will partner with CFA Student Recruitment and with the newly established Office for Arts Philanthropy to achieve their ambitious objectives.

Charlie comes to us with a range of substantial experience directing communications and marketing for organizations such as USA Volleyball, USA Swimming, and the U.S. Olympic Committee, as well as for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, which includes a theatre, an art school, and a museum.  In previous positions, Charlie was successful at significantly increasing visibility and online/social media presence through the development and management of marketing and communication campaigns.

Creating a coherent and widely recognizable identity for the arts at the UA is a core element of the arts initiative in the University’s strategic plan.  We look forward to putting Charlie’s considerable talents to good use in advancing this mission-critical work.  Charlie notes, “I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the staff of the College of Fine Arts. I look forward to meeting everyone and working together to tell the amazing stories of our students, faculty, programs, and courses.”

An important immediate objective will be to create a marketing and communications plan for “UA Arts,” the new division at the university level that will house our academic schools as well as the UA Museum of Art, the Center for Creative Photography, UA Presents, Hanson Film Institute, and CFA in Schools.

Charlie will begin in this new role on Monday, April 22, and will be located in the Dean’s Office suite in Music Building Room 111.  We will have an informal welcome reception on April 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Dean’s Office; all are invited to attend.
