An exhibition showcasing an international collaboration between the University of Arizona (U of A), Universidad Sonora, and Instituto Interamericano de Educación Superior para la Salud. Through PhotoVoice—a form of documentary photography—students from U of A’s College of Nursing in NURS 250 explored the crucial connections between care, consciousness, and community in shaping health and well-being:
- Care encompasses the ways we support one another physically, emotionally, and socially.
- Consciousness fosters awareness of systemic health challenges, personal well-being, and the voices that need to be heard.
- Community represents the collective strength, traditions, and shared spaces that build resilience.
Through their lenses, students captured both the challenges and strengths within diverse communities in Arizona, USA, and Sonora, MX. Graduate students from U of A’s School of Art also designed curatorial and participatory components for the exhibition. As you engage with this exhibition, we encourage you to reflect on your own experiences and contribute your perspectives on these themes. This project is made possible with support from the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Seed Grants and the Research, Innovation, and Impact (RII) Production Grant at the University of Arizona.
