Climate Survey

Arizona Arts administered its first-ever climate survey in 2023. The goal of the survey was to generate data and insights that could inform our efforts to foster an expansive and welcoming arts environment. More than 650 students, faculty, and staff at Arizona Arts participated in the survey for a response rate of 27%.

Results

Overall, the survey results showed that Arizona Arts has a generally favorable climate. At the same time, positive perceptions were not uniformly reported across all segments of survey respondents. The survey also showed overwhelming support for improvement around the university’s core values and include respondents’ ideas for different ways to enhance curriculum, expand public impacts, reduce barriers experienced by people with disability, and more.

Reports and Engagement

In 2024, key findings from the survey were published in two complementary reports: a Summary Report and a Detailed Report. Arizona Arts faculty and staff participated in data dialogues to reflect on and discuss the findings.

As you engage with these reports, it can be helpful to remember that our own contexts, prior knowledge, and experiences may influence how we interpret and feel about the survey results. Some readers might be surprised by what the data show, while others may find their own experiences and observations echoed in the findings.
