Opens April 20. Reception: Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m.-noon, Worlds of Words Center
You are warmly invited to attend Page to Practice: Art Educators’ Responses to Sociocultural Issues,” an exhibition presented by Art and Visual Culture Education Ph.D. Candidate and Instructor Seoyeon Jenn Kim.
On view from April 20–24, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Worlds of Words Center (College of Education, Room 453), this exhibition features storytelling artist’s books created by 16 pre-service art educators and artists from ARE 230 (Foundations of AVCE, Fall 2025). Through arts-based methods and picturebook pedagogy, these works critically engage sociocultural issues, using individual and collective narratives to explore complex themes such as identity, race, and inequity. The exhibition highlights how creative practice can foster critical inquiry, reflection, and dialogue within art education and beyond. For more information about the project, please see the press release here: https://wowlit.org/blog/art-educators-respond-sociocultural-issues-worlds-words-center-exhibit
A closing reception will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Light refreshments and creative activities will be provided. If you plan to attend, please RSVP here: https://wowlit.org/event/page-practice-exhibit-reception
This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to support the creative and critical work of emerging art educators. We warmly invite you to attend, engage with their projects, and celebrate their efforts—feel free to bring friends, family, and colleagues.
